Summary

The concurrence agrees that the respondent mother’s unpreserved constitutional challenge to the remote trial procedure should be rejected and that the Appellate Court’s judgment should be reversed. It disagrees with the majority’s formulation of the legal standard for posttermination visitation, concluding that the statutory phrase “necessary or appropriate” is too broad without further guidance and that the standard governing visitation by nonparents should apply instead. The concurrence nevertheless agrees with the result because the respondent parents could not satisfy either the majority’s standard or the proposed statutory standard.
