The court held that the trial court abused its discretion by ordering permanent, nonmodifiable alimony of $18,000 per month without adequately considering the defendant's age, health, future earning capacity, and the possibility of illness or economic decline. It therefore upheld the remand for a new hearing on all financial issues. The court also held that awarding the plaintiff a portion of the businesses' value and alimony based on the defendant's actual income from those businesses was not impermissible double counting, although the overall financial orders must be fair and equitable.
