Supreme Court of Connecticut
Meribear Productions, Inc. v. Frank
September 22, 2021340 Conn. 711
Summary
The court affirmed enforcement of the California default judgment against George Frank because his close involvement with the agreement made it reasonably foreseeable that he was bound by its California forum-selection clause and therefore consented to personal jurisdiction there. It also held that the home-staging agreement fell within the real-property exception to the Home Solicitation Sales Act and that the damages awards did not produce an impermissible double recovery. The court further upheld the inventory-loss damages as a foreseeable consequence of Joan Frank's breach.
