The court affirmed the Appellate Court’s judgment upholding a civil contempt finding against the plaintiff for violating an order governing a joint account and for denying the parties’ joint motion to open and vacate that finding. The plaintiff did not adequately present an advice-of-counsel theory during the contempt hearing, and the later evidence submitted with his reconsideration motion did not substantiate that theory; in any event, the trial court identified three independent violations. The trial court also acted within its broad discretion in denying the joint motion because the plaintiff offered no evidence that the contempt finding would harm his career.
