Summary

The court held that expert testimony was not required to establish the standard of care for the plaintiffs’ inadequate-supervision negligence claim. Determining whether children were adequately supervised under the circumstances was within ordinary lay knowledge and did not require scientific or specialized expertise. The court therefore reversed the Appellate Court and remanded for consideration of the defendants’ remaining appellate claims.
