Summary

The court held that the governing sexual-assault statute did not require a sentencing court to impose special parole. Instead, the statute required only that, if imprisonment and special parole were imposed together, their combined duration be at least ten years. The court therefore reversed the trial court’s resentencing order and remanded with direction to deny the defendant’s motion to correct his sentence.
