Supreme Court of Connecticut
State of Connecticut v. Donald Saturno.
July 19, 2016322 Conn. 80
Summary
The court affirmed the defendant’s convictions after concluding that the administrative search warrant for his apartment was authorized by statute, supported by probable cause, and properly issued ex parte. It also held that officers’ limited use of force to enter the fenced basement stairway was reasonable under the Fourth Amendment. The evidence obtained through the administrative inspection and subsequent criminal warrants therefore was not subject to suppression.
