Summary

The court held that most of the prosecutor's challenged closing-argument remarks were not improper because, viewed in context, they constituted permissible arguments about the victim's credibility and the defendant's motive to lie. Although the prosecutor improperly referred to an unsupported assertion that the victim's positive pregnancy-test results were shocking to medical professionals, the isolated and noncentral remark did not render the trial fundamentally unfair or violate due process. The court therefore reversed the Appellate Court and directed it to affirm the defendant's convictions.
