Supreme Court of Connecticut
State v. Kevalis
September 23, 2014
Summary
The court held that a defendant cannot be found to have satisfactorily completed accelerated rehabilitation when he receives convictions during the program, even if the conduct underlying those convictions occurred before the program began. The court concluded that accelerated rehabilitation is a pretrial diversionary program intended to preserve a first-time offender's clean criminal record and is not governed in this respect by the rules applicable to postconviction probation. The trial court therefore properly denied the defendant's motion to dismiss. No separate opinions were issued.
