Supreme Court of Colorado
Megan Maya Parocha, Petitioner v. Richard Francis Saga Parocha, Respondent.
May 21, 2018418 P.3d 523
Summary
The court held that Colorado may exercise personal jurisdiction over a nonresident who, knowing that an alleged domestic-abuse victim is in Colorado, harasses, threatens, or attempts to coerce her through communications directed into the state. It concluded that the conduct satisfied both Colorado's long-arm statute and constitutional minimum-contacts and fairness requirements. The court therefore reversed the order vacating the permanent civil protection order and remanded for further proceedings.
