Summary

The court held that Kutlak's statements about his lawyer were ambiguous under the objective reasonable-officer standard and therefore did not invoke his right to counsel. Because Kutlak knowingly and voluntarily waived his Miranda rights before making incriminating statements, suppression was unwarranted. The court reversed the court of appeals and remanded for consideration of Kutlak's remaining appellate contentions.
