Supreme Court of Colorado

People v. Corson

May 16, 20162016 CO 33

Summary

The court reversed the court of appeals and upheld the denial of Corson's post-conviction claims. It held that nondisclosure of the witness's juvenile false-reporting adjudication did not violate due process or render the guilty plea involuntary, and that Corson failed to establish prejudice from the alleged ineffective assistance because he knew of the adjudication, faced substantial evidence and significant trial sentencing exposure, and received substantial plea benefits. The court also held that juvenile adjudications are not automatically discoverable as part of a witness's criminal history under the applicable criminal-procedure rule.
