Mulberger v. People

Summary

The court held that a juror is a “compensated employee of a public law enforcement agency” only when the juror provides services to, is paid by, and is directed by that agency. Because the challenged juror was paid by a private staffing agency and the record did not show that the jail controlled how she performed her work, the court upheld the denial of Mulberger’s challenge for cause and affirmed. The court did not decide the appropriate remedy for an erroneous denial of such a challenge.
