The court held that a Colorado court must first determine whether a nonresident parent’s corporate veil may be pierced before imputing a resident subsidiary’s Colorado contacts to that parent. If contacts are imputed, the court must then assess all contacts under the requirements for general or specific personal jurisdiction; if not, it must consider only the parent’s individual contacts. Because the trial court did not apply this framework, the court made the rule to show cause absolute and remanded for further proceedings.
