Summary

The court affirmed defendant’s convictions for five first degree murders, the multiple-murder special-circumstance finding, and the death judgment. It held that the evidence sufficiently supported defendant’s liability for Anthony Moreno’s murder under conspiracy and aiding-and-abetting theories, and for the other murders under the natural-and-probable-consequences doctrine. The court also rejected defendant’s challenges to witness nondisclosure orders, denial of his motion to discharge retained counsel, evidentiary rulings, and several forfeited claims.
