Supreme Court of Arkansas

Dean Leroy Meacham v. State of Arkansas

April 3, 20252025 Ark. 27

Summary

The court affirmed Meacham’s three rape convictions and concurrent life sentences. It held that the forensic interviewer’s testimony was admissible nonhearsay, that the challenge to the mother’s credibility testimony was unpreserved, and that evidence of Meacham recording the victim nude was admissible under the pedophile exception to Rule 404(b). The court also held that the isolated, unfinished reference to the victim “coming out” did not warrant a mistrial or jury admonition because it caused no demonstrated prejudice.
