In Re Response to Covid-19 pandemic.june 11

June 11, 20202020 Ark. 249

Summary

The court established statewide protocols for resuming some in-person court proceedings during the COVID-19 emergency. It lifted the suspension of jury trials effective June 30, 2020, authorized civil jury trials by videoconference and criminal voir dire by videoconference upon agreement, and continued the suspension of Rule 4(i) until further notice. It also reaffirmed that pandemic-related delays in criminal trials presumptively constitute good cause under the speedy-trial rule.
