Summary

The court held that the Fair Sentencing of Minors Act did not apply to Robinson because his offense predated the Act and his sentence had been vacated before the Act took effect. Robinson was therefore entitled to a sentencing hearing allowing consideration of Miller-related evidence and sentencing within the discretionary range for a Class Y felony. Justice Wood, concurring, agreed that stare decisis required the result but maintained that the Act had been misinterpreted in the controlling precedent.
