Z.l. v. State of Arkansas

Summary

The court held that the circuit court lost juvenile jurisdiction over Z.L. when he turned twenty-one and therefore lacked authority to conduct an EJJ review hearing or impose an adult sentence afterward. Because the juvenile division could not validly transfer the case to the criminal division, the criminal sentencing order was also jurisdictionally invalid. The court reversed and dismissed the case.
