Summary

Danielson concurred in affirming Taylor's capital-murder conviction and death sentence but dissented from the kidnapping conviction, concluding that the accomplice's testimony was not sufficiently corroborated. In Danielson's view, the evidence independently connecting Taylor to a kidnapping was inadequate, although the evidence was sufficient to sustain premeditated and deliberated capital murder. Because the jury returned a general capital-murder verdict, Danielson reasoned that reversal of the kidnapping conviction could also require reversal of the capital-murder conviction if the verdict rested on capital-felony murder.
