The court held that Arizona may require juveniles released pending adjudication to provide buccal-cell samples, even without a prior judicial probable-cause determination, because obtaining the physical sample serves the important interest of identifying juveniles who may abscond. But the State may not extract and enter DNA profiles from those samples before adjudication or a failure to appear because the resulting genetic-information search is more intrusive and lacks a sufficient governmental justification. The court vacated the court of appeals' opinion and remanded to the superior court.
