Alaska Supreme Court
Terri L. Ruppe, Appellant v. Terry C. Ruppe, Appellee
September 25, 20152015 Alas. LEXIS 130
Summary
The court affirmed the superior court’s rulings on joint legal custody, the duration and calculation of permanent child support, property division, spousal support, and attorney’s fees. It also affirmed the conclusion that the husband’s direct payments and provision of military housing satisfied his interim support obligations, but reversed the credit of alleged interim child-support overpayments against future obligations because such credits are generally impermissible absent exceptional circumstances or an agreement that the payments constituted prepayment. The court further presumed that support would continue for an unmarried child actively pursuing a high school diploma after turning 18.
